no structure to hold me up
no floor to walk upon
no windowsill on which to lean.
I long for what is leaving me behind;
I long for days not so distant
when I felt the feelings, and knew my growth.
I turn away from all
that gave me life, before.
there is no body left to feed,
no dreams to fill, no goals to reach.
I gaze like a woman deserted by friends,
betrayed by thwarted desires,
not knowing what direction
will take me towards home, nor
where home is.
In defeat, I stand and wait
for a sign
that I am alive,
and worth keeping."
